40

Today I am 40 years old.

This weekend we had a big party with people from my teens, twenties, and thirties.

We got to do the big house party thing, with cleaning for the week before, to ordering catering, to buying way too many drinks at Costco. There were about 60 people here, almost half of them kids of friends. My best friends from 7th grade, and then my new mom friends from the last year or so.

I didn’t expect it to be as fun and easy as it was. I didn’t expect people to bring presents but they did. I didn’t expect it to be over so quickly…but it was.

We should all get to do big birthday parties every once in a while, to bring everyone together and remind ourselves of how lucky we are to have friends and family that we love.

In my 30s, I had a second kid, raised babies to children, traded up jobs, went through a pandemic, moved to a new city, and bought a house.

My 40s are going to be about skincare, moving my body more, making sound financial decisions, raising children to young adults, and pursuing any and all fun opportunities with Drew. ❤
